Responsible Students Make for a Happy Class

Teaching responsibilities is an important
thing in Grade 1.
TASK #1: keeping up with our pencils

Today we made unique-one-of-a-kind personal pencil holder! They turned out GREAT!

Learning about Weather

We have began discovering and investigating the weather around us...Keeping a weather diary is a GREAT way to document and discuss what we have noticed.

There is NO such thing as "NORMAL" in this class!

We have changed our door from the welcome message to something the students helped me to create!

 Our first door decoration...

The door they helped me create..."We are having a BALL in here!!"
This picture doesn't do justice to all the "crazies" we have in this class...so I will show you each picture that each student took! This group has already made this year completely memorable for me!

ahhhh.... there are some crazy kids in here!! :)

Working on our map!

Sorry it has taken me a few weeks to update, I have felt under-the-weather....Our class has
been in session for 2 months now and the students and myself felt like it was time for some change! Check our the changes that were made!

Ms. Elizabeth dressed up with the kids on Friday for African Dress Day!

We worked on our Sierra Leone map! The whole school is jealous with how great it is looking!

An up close view of the map! We added animals that we can find around the country. Please feel free to drop by and check it out!

We began making our 3D houses! I can't wait to show you how they turn out!!

Zara A's mom came in WITH a dollhouse and a mouse to help explain the story she read!

Mr. Guitar on Thursday

I ask a lot of my students each week, I understand this.
So this week we decided that there would be
a GREAT reward every Thursday if, and only if,
they worked hard and were respectful to one another throughout
the week!

Today was our first "Reward Thursday"

As you can tell it was BLAST!

A Fountain of Information about Air!

So we have been studying about air and everything it can do!
Today we colored water green and watched what happened when we compressed the air and increased the pressure!

Tonio's Mom Comes and Reads!

Learning about people, places and languages around the world is FUN....
HEARING someone speak it is BETTER....
but having a PARENT come in a read to us is the BEST!

We want to thank Tonio's mom for coming in this morning and spending some time teaching us how to say Mom and Dad in Arabic!!

Look at how focused the whole class is.

They really enjoyed hearing a story about how much Mom means to us

Youssef was demonstrating good manors by raising his hand...
Marcus found what he said to be very funny!

We are really grateful for today!

Starting the day with a POP!

We studied the effects of air pressure once we compressed it.... What a POP!

The kids loved running around making the noise while discovering that air can be heard even though it can't be seen! (My little scientists at work!)
